Shard Spending

• Rewards •
The Gist of It
All characters receive a crystal pendant upon arrival. This crystal harnesses energy from those characters and the people around them via interactions and emotions. This energy is called a shard, and it can be exchanged for an item or power of their choice. To do this, your character will need to approach the giant crystal in the center of the town and press their pendant against it, giving it the power they have harnessed. They can then make their wish, and given the right amount of energy, it will manifest.
Characters can wish for an item, power, animal companion or request for a specific event to happen. Characters who require certain items for sustenance (e.g. vampires who need blood to survive) do not have to wish for this through rewards. You can assume the item they need will be readily provided.
Wishes can be IC or they can be something your character did not ask for. In the latter situation, simply assume the crystal had read their innermost desire/random thought, or that the Overseer is just messing with them.
How it works
After submitting threads on the Banking page and having them verified by a mod, players may use banked shards to submit a rewards request using the form below, and a mod will grant the request in due time. Your character's wish will then manifest however you wish it to e.g. they will regain a power right there and then, or they'll go home and find that magical sword they want sitting on their bed. It's also possible to use shards to grant wishes on behalf of other people.
Players may submit multiple rewards requests per month, provided they have banked shards available.
Rewards
Shards can be exchanged for the following wishes, for the right price.

WISHES (Potions)
WISHES (Setting)
Claimable Powers:
- Canon powers already owned by your character can be reclaimed.
Unless opting to reclaim all powers at once, 150 shards typically regain 1 special ability. This comprises of an umbrella of related abilities. For example, all fire-related abilities (the ability to blast fire, the ability to heat things up, resistance to fire) count as 1.
- We will not be approving abilities powerful enough to destroy a large part of the city unless they can be nerfed heavily. The limit to destructive power should be the ability to destroy 1 house.
- Mind-reading or mind control powers can be reclaimed but can only be used with consent from other players.
- Teleportation powers can be reclaimed but they only work within the land not covered by crystal, and in the lands beyond with the usual distance restrictions. When teleporting into character's homes, there needs to be some OOC discussion beforehand.
- New powers can be granted through rewards, as mentioned above. Reasonably generic powers or powers learned from another character in-game can be granted at the 200 point reward. Anything extremely unique or powerful can be discussed with the team upon submission, but may be denied altogether or be extremely expensive.
- Potion power upgrades are only available to characters with the basic potion power. You can't get full blue potion healing unless you already have the blue potion, you can't get full gold potion animal shapeshifting unless you already have the gold potion, et cetera.
Requesting items on another character's behalf: Characters cannot request powers, licenses, residences or large rewards for another character, but they can request small items. Please check with the character's player before doing this; if you do not mention their consent on the form, we will ask.
Cooperative wishing and miscellaneous requests: We'll approve cooperative reward requests on a case by case basis. Just ask under the header below!
If there's something you want that isn't on the list or you have some doubts, feel free to ask below! Please note that mods have the last say in all regains.
Please use the following form for submissions, do not link gdocs or other external spreadsheets!
(Delete whichever parts don't apply.)

I understand that a Landholding can only be purchased for Lumindeas.
1.5. What is the difference between a Landholding and a Farm? How many bedrooms would you say the average Farm has to start (looking at Lumindeas specifically)?
I assume the farm has a greater acreage (I'm reading the average in the US is 460+???? PLEASE correct me if it's less than that here; I'm all about being creative, but I don't have anything to go off re: this world's scale). I'd also assume you could wish for it pre-established with what you need, but I'm a little shaky re: the questions I've asked.
2. Are the companion regains only for creatures and canon companions/etc. from our character's canon worlds?
I was wondering if cats, dogs, etc. were adoptable from within the setting itself and if we'd need to pay shards for that or not, but I couldn't find an answer anywhere.

1. Landholding is only in Lumindeas, as stated you are correct. It is sizably smaller than a farm - the largest housing option, and also has a restriction of requiring a certain number of player characters to live there to be purchasable.
The other option, 1000 for Specialized Housing, is what farms fall under because they have the potential to be something beyond a large dwelling with the standard rooms and building. They are also much larger than 4 acres and specialized housing does not have the PC resident requirement.
We are not looking to give an exact number for acreage or number of these purchases the size of the setting can hold because that gets too specific and limits the game's ability to grow and adjust for player population. Handwaving a farm that has been purchased is a reasonable size for what the player wants to use it for without being excessive is what we're looking to establish.
The available area in Somnius is ICly limited due to game events, so it's safe to assume that those would be smaller in scope due to that than the ones that would be able to be established in Lumindeas. But once again, the exact size of these housing extras is not important, there isn't a situation where we are going to run out of room for player housing in either available location. We just expect players to be reasonable with size and keep in mind the setting when playing within the game.
2. Correct, we are looking to clarify this language but the intention of that section is companion animals or non standard animals from players worlds. We request patience as we adjust some things on the rewards page as we balance things.
A chocobo from Final Fantasy is a good example. Local non magical cats, dogs, birds, etc do not have a shard cost. Should a player want to adopt something that is less mundane, mentioned in an event post, or otherwise not something simple, we will address that when they approach for a reward of that nature.
It is always best practice to check costs and other notes in these sections when you submit them in case things have changed, but we will always strive to announce large changes to what is available with an announcements post.

If I wanted Basil to ask for something like a greenhouse, what would that be considered, reward wise? Would it be possible for him to request something like that?

Thank you for checking. We are handling power regain rewards a little differently than that.
If you wanted Reiner to regain his abilities separately, they would be 150 shards each and would follow the "single special ability" specification - meaning each unique ability of the Armored Titan would be 150 shards, as opposed to grouping them under the possession and transformation umbrellas.
The "all powers regained" cost of 400 is intended to act as a discount for characters who have multiple powers to regain where it would cost much more to regain them all separately.

Updating Bank after Reward Claims
Is there a process for updating our bank after a purchase to keep a live tracker of current shards?
EG: I just claimed a reward, and now have 387 shards left. But if I check my banking comment it'll still have only the 617 that was initially there.

What would y'all consider his big red beast of a bike in terms of rewards? Initially I figured it'd fall under 150 considering he'd be regaining it from his world + in his hands it may as well be another weapon, but I figured I'd ask just to be 100% sure!

If doable, 'round abouts how many points could I expect for his dual blades or sword?
Thanks in advance, modlies!

So long as the weapons are generic, normal weapons and don't have any kaiju parts in them, they would fall under the 50 shard mundane weapon reward.

It's not technically magical, but it's not exactly a commonplace firearm either.
Please let me know so I can spend accordingly! Thank you so much.
