Shard Spending

• Rewards •

The Gist of It
All characters receive a crystal pendant upon arrival. This crystal harnesses energy from those characters and the people around them via interactions and emotions. This energy is called a shard, and it can be exchanged for an item or power of their choice. To do this, your character will need to approach the giant crystal in the center of the town and press their pendant against it, giving it the power they have harnessed. They can then make their wish, and given the right amount of energy, it will manifest.

Characters can wish for an item, power, animal companion or request for a specific event to happen. Characters who require certain items for sustenance (e.g. vampires who need blood to survive) do not have to wish for this through rewards. You can assume the item they need will be readily provided.

Wishes can be IC or they can be something your character did not ask for. In the latter situation, simply assume the crystal had read their innermost desire/random thought, or that the Overseer is just messing with them.

How it works
After submitting threads on the Banking page and having them verified by a mod, players may use banked shards to submit a rewards request using the form below, and a mod will grant the request in due time. Your character's wish will then manifest however you wish it to e.g. they will regain a power right there and then, or they'll go home and find that magical sword they want sitting on their bed. It's also possible to use shards to grant wishes on behalf of other people.

Players may submit multiple rewards requests per month, provided they have banked shards available.

Please only use shards that have already been banked and verified on the Banking page. Please do not submit threads for shards in your rewards request.

Rewards
Shards can be exchanged for the following wishes, for the right price.

REGAINS (Powers)
  • 150: A single special ability That the character canonically has or will have. Abilities must be under a single related umbrella; see header below for more information about powers. Items necessary to use the power may be regained as part of this reward.
  • 400: All canon powers This is a discount for characters with multiple powers where it would be too cumbersome to request them one at a time. As before, any items necessary to use the powers may be regained as part of this rewards. Should the number of powers or level of powers exceed a certain amount we reserve the right to adjust this cost accordingly and will discuss it with you upon redemption attempt. Weapons and other tools that are independent of these powers, however, must be regained separately.

  • REGAINS (Items)
  • 25: A small non-magical item or weapon from your world e.g. a piece of jewelry, a photograph, or a small knife
  • 50: A basic item Small technology such as smartphones or laptops, lightweight transportation, or larger mundane real-world items
  • 50: A standard mundane weapon or armor from your world Anything up to modern tech and firearms
  • 100: A small magical or sci-fi tech item Nothing powerful enough to be used in combat
  • 150: A powerful magical or sci-fi item Such as a weapon, a protective item, or any other significant ability
  • 400: All canon weapons or items at once This is a discount for characters with multiple weapons and specialized equipment where it would be too cumbersome to request them one at a time. This is considered a one timediscount, and once powers are begin to be requested piecemeal, the discount will no longer be offered.

  • REGAINS (Companions)
  • 50: A small domestic pet such as a dog, cat, or domestic bird from a character's own home - local small domestic animals are free to adopt narratively and are not a reward item.
  • 150: A large exotic animal Up to the size of an elephant from a character's own home - local large exotic animals are not able to be requested as rewards at this time.
  • 250: A magical creature up to size of an elephant from a character's own home - local magical creatures from the game setting are not able to be requested as rewards at this time.

  • WISHES (Personal Housing)

    • 400: Two additional acres of land

  • 1000: Specialized housing - A small castle or other large building, a farm or other specialized facility, or any housing that serves a special purpose or has unusual capabilities. Only one specialized housing allowed per character.

    • 800: Small airship (one pilot two passengers, medium cargo)
    • 1000: Medium airship (one pilot, four passengers, medium cargo)
    • 275: Custom additions

  • WISHES (Potions)
  • 50: A second potion transformation For those who have taken a gold potion.
  • 75: Full use of your Elemental or Healing potion power For those who have already taken the appropriate potion.
  • 100: A second potion This can either grant a second potion color, or access to another element for those who have already taken a red potion. Limit one per character.

  • WISHES (Setting)
  • 200: A business license Please submit a description of your business to the locations page after approval
  • 200: A generic or simple non-canon ability or special item These can be commonplace powers such as super-strength or flight, or the simple canon abilities of other characters, subject to mod approval.
  • 400: Up to four non-canon powers OR special weapons at once This option is exclusively for characters with no special abilities or magical/technological equipment in canon. It may only be purchased once.
  • 1200: A special request. Characters can request for a town-wide event (such as a change in the weather, more flowers, something terrible happening), an unusual or powerful non-canon power (Anything too unique for the 200 point regain), a permanent change to their body, or something specific to happen to them. Mods will decide if the request can be granted. Shards will not be used if the request cannot be granted.

  • Claimable Powers:
    • Canon powers already owned by your character can be reclaimed.
Unless opting to reclaim all powers at once, 150 shards typically regain 1 special ability. This comprises of an umbrella of related abilities. For example, all fire-related abilities (the ability to blast fire, the ability to heat things up, resistance to fire) count as 1.
    • We will not be approving abilities powerful enough to destroy a large part of the city unless they can be nerfed heavily. The limit to destructive power should be the ability to destroy 1 house.
    • Mind-reading or mind control powers can be reclaimed but can only be used with consent from other players.
    • Teleportation powers can be reclaimed but they only work within the land not covered by crystal, and in the lands beyond with the usual distance restrictions. When teleporting into character's homes, there needs to be some OOC discussion beforehand.
    • New powers can be granted through rewards, as mentioned above. Reasonably generic powers or powers learned from another character in-game can be granted at the 200 point reward. Anything extremely unique or powerful can be discussed with the team upon submission, but may be denied altogether or be extremely expensive.
    • Potion power upgrades are only available to characters with the basic potion power. You can't get full blue potion healing unless you already have the blue potion, you can't get full gold potion animal shapeshifting unless you already have the gold potion, et cetera.

Requesting items on another character's behalf: Characters cannot request powers, licenses, residences or large rewards for another character, but they can request small items. Please check with the character's player before doing this; if you do not mention their consent on the form, we will ask.
Cooperative wishing and miscellaneous requests: We'll approve cooperative reward requests on a case by case basis. Just ask under the header below!

If there's something you want that isn't on the list or you have some doubts, feel free to ask below! Please note that mods have the last say in all regains.

Please use the following form for submissions, do not link gdocs or other external spreadsheets!

    Player Name: kas
Character Name and username: reiner braun [personal profile] nohero

    Requested Reward: all canon powers
    Reward Cost: 400
Extra Details: All of Reiner's powers stem from the Armored Titan, a 15-meter-tall … armored titan. His Titan's size will need to be nerfed so he can't destroy multiple houses in one go.

      Associated Powers
    • brain function transfer — he can use his titan's brain place of his own, or send his consciousness into his nervous system to avoid insta-death if his spine is severed
    • memory inheritance — n/a unless he eats another special titan, in which case he will inherit their memories
    • regeneration — can recover from nearly any wound, dependent on will to live and overall stamina; if he doesn't have enough of either, he will not heal
    • regeneration withdrawl — just suppresses his regeneration ability
    • transformation — into the armored titan. transformation causes a bolt of lightning that generates from Reiner, as well as enough heat to instantly cook anyone too close (e.g., someone hugging him, rip)

      Armored Titan
    • 15 meters tall — shrink him to whatever is the biggest he can be, please! idk what max-size is!
    • armored skin — covered in a carapace of sorts. sharp objects will not pierce it, but heavy-duty explosives will
    • enhanced speed/strength — he's stronger and faster, proportionate to his increased size
    • hardening — creates crystals on his body; he's shown to do this on his fingers/toes so he's able to stab into things and climb them
    • steam generation — basically his titan gets really hot? and to cool himself, he exhales steam (and one time steam so hot it turned into fire, wow)

    Total:
    416 previously banked - 400 reward cost = 16 shards remaining

Everything looks good! Reiner can now terrify and amaze the citizens of Visium-Lumindeas with the Armored Titan. No shrinking needed - 15 meters is the height cap and we trust you not to go crazy with the destruction!

You now have 16 shards left in the bank.
